To help restore and renew a Lutheran witness in mainland China.
This Mission takes its name from Hankow, today part of the modern city of Wuhan, China. The name recalls a historic Lutheran mission legacy of theological education, pastoral formation, Christian publishing, and the proclamation of the Gospel.
Today, Concordia Press Hankow seeks to continue this work through FREE online publications, translations, historical resources, catechetical materials, and other projects that make the theological treasures of the Lutheran tradition accessible to Chinese readers.

Hankow, today’s Wuhan, represents the historical Lutheran mission heritage that inspires the project. St. Louis, Missouri, is the present organizational base from which the work is being developed. Mainland China remains the central mission focus for the project’s publishing and digital outreach.
Locate, preserve, transcribe, and make accessible historical Lutheran works and resources relevant to the Lutheran mission in China.
Translate, proofread, edit, digitize, and prepare Lutheran theological materials for modern publication and free distribution.
To make the theological treasures of the Lutheran confessions freely and widely available to the Chinese-speaking world.
